In 2024, teams from Barco NV and Nichia Corporation were recognised by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences with a Technical Achievement Award (also known as a Technical Oscar ®) for their contributions to the development and integration of laser sources for digital cinema projectors. 

To mark this great advancement for laser display and lighting, the conference program committee has decided that the Keynote Session of LDC 2025 should include a commemorative presentation. 

We are delighted to announce these winners as our Keynote Speakers: 

Dr. Peter Janssens (Barco NV, Belgium) "From Lab to Screen: the Journey of RGB Laser Projection and HDR in Cinema."

Dr. Yasutaka Nakatsu (Nichia Corp., Japan) "Blue and Green Laser Diodes for Cinema Projectors.
